Imam as-Suyuthy dalam menafsiri surah al-Baqarah ayat 33, mengutip pandangan yang diberikan Imam ath-Thayyiby. Dalam tafsir al-Iklil beliau menafsiri ayat yang menceritakan Nabi Adam menyebutkan nama-nama benda yang tidak diketahui malaikat. Ayat setelahnya, Allah menyuruh malaikat bersujud kepada Nabi Adam, yang sudah “menang” melawan malaikat.
Bila kita ditanya, mana letak “kemenangan” Nabi Adam, yang nyatanya tercipta dari tanah, padahal malaikat dari lentera? Apakah ibadahnya? Tentu tidak!
Urusan ibadah, malaikatlah makhluk yang tak tertandingi. Selain hidup lama, ibadahnya tak terganggu nafsu. Beda sangat dengan manusia.
Lantas, kenapa Allah menyuruh malaikat bersujud kepada Nabi Adam? Jawabannya jelas, Nabi Adam unggul. Ya, Nabi Adam “menang” telak soal urusan pengetahuan.
Maka dari itu Imam ath-Thayyiby menjelaskan bahwa, “Pengetahuan perihal bahasa, jauh lebih mulia dari pada ibadah.”
Anehnya, sampai artikel ini ditulis, sangat banyak ahli ibadah, yang kesehariannya fokus dengan ibadah, tidak mengetahui ilmu kebahasaan dengan baik dan benar.
